Privacy & cookies
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This statement covers visits to be-still.be and practical contact by email. I provide information about patient records and the processing of health data separately at the practice.
Who is responsible?
I am Els Franssens, Spoorwegstraat 58, 9660 Brakel, Belgium. Enterprise number: 0836.964.203. For privacy questions, contact els [at] be-still [dot] be or write to the address above.
What data and why?
When you email me, I receive your email address, the name you provide and your message. I use these to answer your question or arrange an appointment. For appointments, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract or performing that contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). For other practical enquiries, it is my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence (Article 6(1)(f)). You do not need to email medical information to request an appointment; please discuss it during your consultation where possible. I need contact details to reply.
Website visits and security
The technical providers process information such as your IP address, time of access, requested page and browser or device details to deliver and protect the website. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in a secure, accessible website and preventing abuse (Article 6(1)(f)). The website has no contact form, patient portal or online booking system. I do not use advertising pixels or use your data for automated decisions or profiling. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics for general visitor statistics, as described below.
Service providers
The website is published through OpenAI Sites, with Cloudflare providing technical delivery and security. Easyhost provides my domain and email service. Using Outlook may also involve processing by Microsoft, depending on the version and synchronisation settings. The email button opens your own email application; clicking it does not send a message.
Where is data processed?
The hosting and email supply chain may involve processing outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Cloudflare describes its use of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, as applicable, in its privacy policy. The specific contractual safeguards and retention periods in the hosting supply chain are still being verified; this statement will be updated when confirmed. See the privacy statements of Cloudflare, Easyhost and Microsoft. Please contact me with questions about this processing or the available safeguards.
How long is data kept?
I retain practical correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry or appointment and any follow-up. Where specific data is needed for a legal retention obligation or an actual dispute, that obligation or the resolution of the dispute determines the retention period. These criteria do not specify the retention period for patient records. The exact retention of technical hosting logs has not yet been confirmed. The lifetime of the cookie described below is known.
Visitor statistics
I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits to the website and individual pages, and how quickly they load. Cloudflare receives technical information about page visits and the browser, including the page visited, referring website where available, and loading performance. The connection uses your IP address; Cloudflare states that it does not track visitors across websites. This analytics service uses no cookies or local browser storage. I use the statistics to improve the website, not for advertising or individual patient profiles. To the extent that personal data is processed, I rely on the legitimate interest in understanding website usage and performance (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can ask questions or object by contacting my email address. The information above about Cloudflare, international processing and retention periods still to be verified also applies here. Read more about Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Cookies
The website code includes no marketing or analytics cookies. The hosting sets Cloudflare’s __cf_bm security cookie to identify automated abuse. It expires after 30 minutes of continuous inactivity. Cloudflare does not use it to track you across websites. Strictly necessary security cookies do not require prior consent, so the site does not show a consent banner for this cookie. You can delete or block cookies in your browser, which may affect access to the website. Cookie use will be reassessed when site features change. Read about Cloudflare cookies.
Your rights and complaints
You may request access or correction and, where the legal conditions are met, erasure, restriction or portability of your data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are not absolute, for example where a legal retention obligation applies. Email els [at] be-still [dot] be; I normally respond within one month. If there are reasonable doubts about your identity, I will ask only for the information needed to confirm it. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels.
Practical terms
Consultations cost €75 for 60 minutes for adults and €60 for 45 minutes for babies and children under 12. You can pay in cash or with your banking app. Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance; later cancellations are charged at 50% of the consultation fee. A certificate allows you to apply for partial reimbursement subject to your Belgian health insurance fund’s conditions. Read all practical information.
